Half Moon Bar Lodge is a family owned and operated Lodge located in The Wild and Scenic area of the Rogue River. We are surrounded by National Forest lands and the river runs around 3 sides of our property.

About Half Moon Bar Lodge

Our Lodge has about 15 guest rooms, a restaurant and a bar. Our guests visit from all around the world to experience the beauty of the Rogue River. We are located on property that was homesteaded in 1920 and are one of only a few Lodges located on the Rogue River. The Rogue was one of eight rivers in the US declared Wild and Scenic in 1968. Our staff is a community of about 5 people, ranging in ages and experience. This year our season runs from June to October 2019, We are currently accepting applications for Housekeeper, Chef and Groundskeeper.

The Employee Experience

At Half Moon Bar Lodge, we know that our employees are our most important asset. We strive to treat all of our employees like family. We cultivate a positive work environment and provide access to outdoor activities and they enjoy the friendship and camaraderie that come from a summer of living, working, and playing together with other staff members. We provide free housing and three meals each day for all of our employees. The fresh, homemade meals are prepared by the same talented chefs that serve our Guests, so you are sure to be well fed all summer long. Working here can also be an opportunity to learn a variety of skills, develop a strong work ethic, and grow professionally as a chef, baker, maintenance worker, customer service representative or server. Please be aware that Half Moon is located in a remote area of Oregon. Access is by boat or Helicopter. The nearest road is 14 miles away and there are no shopping malls or movie theaters in Gold Beach. Our location requires us to be a resourceful team and more often than not, we bake it, we sew it, we build it, we fix it, and we recycle it. Wages are paid every two weeks.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for applicants who are excited about spending the summer in a beautiful, remote and historic area of Oregon and who are willing to work hard to make sure our Guests enjoy their visit to this spectacular area.

To perform successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. . A minimum of one year working in the position you are applying for is suggested. The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions is imperative.

You should have demonstrated abilities and success performing the work you applying for.

Staff Housing

Room and board is provided to each employee at no cost. Staff housing is in a 3 room bunkhouse located in the main Lodge. Bathrooms are shared with others. Linens and towels are provided.>

Housekeeping

Accountable for, but not limited to:

  • Execution of daily housekeeping tasks.
  • Daily upkeep and care of all facilities and accommodations.
  • Laundry facilities to ensure a high quality of supplies and guest services care.
  • Completing all housekeeping duties including but not limited to: making beds, vacuuming, dusting, mopping sweeping, restocking towels and bedding, cleaning bathrooms etc.
  • Performing other lodge duties assigned to Housekeeping such as watering flowers, washing equipment and boats inside and out, polishing stemware and flatware, recycling, etc.
  • Managing linen and amenity supplies within facilities and accommodations and assuring guests are always stocked with the proper and fresh quantities.
  • Portraying a friendly guest service atmosphere and approach through all aspects of your job.
  • Performing a first-class level of housekeeping and meeting expectations of exceptionally clean accommodations and facilities.
  • Maintaining a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
  • Willingness to help in other departments or wherever needed.
  • Must be capable of being on your feet for up to 8 hours a day, as well as lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Assist in Dining room with meal service and clean up.

This position reports to the lodge manager.

Chef/Kitchen

Accountable for, but not limited to:

  • Execute the daily food service needs of our guests and employees.
  • Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies.
  • Order food items coordinating with the lodge manager, based on reservations.
  • Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces).
  • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff.
  • Answer, report and follow Lodge Managers instructions.
  • Clean up station and take care of leftover food.
  • Stock inventory appropriately.
  • Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion.
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards.
  • Wash dishes and keep a clean, orderly Kitchen and stock room.
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
  • Willingness to help in other departments or wherever needed at the Lodge.
  • Must be capable of being on your feet for up to 8 hours a day, as well as lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Possess or obtain Oregon food Handlers Certificate

This position works a split shift.

This position reports to the lodge manager.

Gardener

Accountable for, but not limited to:

  • Field irrigation and irrigation system maintenance.
  • Performing grounds keeping and lawn maintenance duties.
  • Landscaping by planting flowers, grass, shrubs, and bushes.
  • Sweep & blow roads, parking lots & walkways of debris.
  • Freight, supplies and food deliveries – unloading, hauling and storing under the supervision of the lodge manager.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance procedures on equipment utilized in groundskeeping.
  • Maintaining lawn furniture.
  • Water and fertilize plants and grass as needed.
  • Firewood supply management.
  • Maintaining dumpster area cleanliness at the kitchen and workshop.
  • Deliver Guests luggage.
  • Operate tractors, mowers, and other vehicles.
  • Working with the lodge manager on a wide variety of lodge-related jobs & duties.
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and guests.
  • Willingness to help in other departments or wherever needed at the Lodge.
  • Must be capable of being on your feet for up to 8 hours a day, as well as lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Planting a chef's garden would be a bonus!

This position reports to the lodge manager.

Compensation

Compensation is based on your experience and demonstrated abilities. The most valuable person is willing and able to work all positions.
